City caterer has taken it one step further and bought her own farm.

Liz Neumark walks up the hill, looking a combination of urban and rural in her green rubber boots and sleek glasses. “I must have an aberrant gene [for farming],” said the third generation Manhattanite Sunday, who says she has wanted to own a farm for some time.

Catching Thunder in a Jar
Thunder Pickles is what Liz Neumark, the owner of Great Performances, a catering company, calls her new line of pickles. "When I was a kid, a farmer down the road taught me not to be afraid of thunder," she said.

Farm Goes to Market
The Growing Popularity of green markets is not lost on Liz Neumark, chief executive of Great Performances and owner of year-old Katchkie Farm. Capitalizing on the fresh-food trend, Katchkie this week replaces Central Harlem CSA as the main vendor at the green market at PS 180 in Harlem, which has provided fresh food to the parents of students since 2005.
