The Delicata Squash, recognizable by its slim, oblong shape and yellow skin with green pin stripes, is a variety of winter squash known for its delicate skin and sweet, nutty flavor reminiscent of butternut squash.

Storage

Delicata squash do not store as well as other winter squash varieties. They will keep up to three months in a cool, dry place, but do not store them in the refrigerator.

Preparation

As the name implies, Delicata Squash have a thin, delicate skin - there’s no need to peel them before cooking them. Simply scrub the outside, then halve and scoop out the seeds. Slice into rings or crescents and roast.

Taste

Similar in flavor to butternut squash, they have a sweet, nutty, buttery flavor.

Delicata squash is a good source of fiber and potassium and contains manganese, magnesium, and vitamins B and C.
